What does it mean to register a deed?
When a property is transferred from the seller to the buyer, the Title Deed is registered at the Deeds Office.
The Title Deed is a record of information about the property, including who owns the property.
The registration of the deed is handled by the conveyancing attorney, who is hired by the seller but paid by the buyer. The cost includes transfer of property fees, transfer duty, and Deeds Office fees.
The registration of the Title Deed usually takes 2 to 3 weeks.
The Title Deed is held by the Deeds Office until the buyer pays off the bond, at which point it is transferred to the buyer.
