What is the Deeds Office process?
This is the process whereby the Title Deed is registered at the Deeds Office.
This is handled by the conveyancing attorney during the transfer of property process. The conveyancing attorney is hired by the seller but paid by the buyer. The transfer costs include Deeds Office fees.
The Title Deed contains a record of who owns the property. The registration of the Title Deed is the final stage in the process of transferring the property from seller to buyer. The Deeds Office usually takes 2 — 3 weeks to process the documents.
If there is a bond, the deed will be kept by the finance lender or bank, until the bond is paid off.
Once the bond is paid off, the Title Deed is held by the property owner.
