Title deed meaning: What is a title deed?
A title deed is a document stipulating who owns a property. It is the most important document concerning a property.
Title deeds are registered at the Deeds Office. If you’re purchasing a home, the title deed will be registered following the bond registration and transfer process, which take place after the home loan is approved.
The bank keeps the title deed until you pay off your home loan. Once you’ve done that, the title deed is transferred to you and you now have proof that you are the owner of the property.
