How long do you have to pay transfer fees?
You have three months (after the home loan is approved) to pay transfer costs, as this is the time it takes for the property to be transferred.
In addition, to transfer costs, you must pay transfer duty, a tax on the property transfer paid to SARS (properties valued less than R1 100 000 are exempt). This must be paid within 6 months of the transfer.
You can use our Transfer Cost Calculator to determine how much you owe on transfer costs and transfer duty.
