What are the transfer costs on a house?
Transfer costs vary, depending on the purchase price. They comprise the conveyancer’s fees plus VAT, and the transfer duty payable to SARS. Transfer duties only apply to properties worth more than R1 000 000.
You can get an idea of what those costs will be by using ooba Home Loans’ Transfer Cost Calculator.
For example, on a R1 million bond for a freehold property, with the seller not VAT registered and the purchase being conducted by a natural person, the transfer cost estimate would be R24 867 (incl. VAT).
